Hello everyone, in this issue, the editor brings you new content. In practical engineering, iron carbon microelectrolysis has unique advantages in improving the biodegradability of wastewater, opening loops and chains, and reducing wastewater toxicity. It is usually used in conjunction with Fenton to significantly remove organic matter from water. The microelectrolysis reaction needs to be carried out under acidic conditions to achieve good results. Before the reaction, the pH of the wastewater needs to be adjusted to 2-4, and after the reaction is completed, the pH should be between 5-6. The reaction time is determined according to the pilot test results, usually 1-2 hours. To ensure good reaction effect, the iron carbon microelectrolysis will be continuously aerated during operation, and the steam water ratio can be designed at 5:1, with regular backwashing. The recommended inlet oil content for microelectrolysis packing is below 50mg/L, the inlet suspended solids content is below 100mg/L, and the hardness+alkalinity content is ≤ 2000mg/L.

At present, there is a significant price difference for iron carbon microelectrolysis fillers on the market. Therefore, caution should be exercised when selecting them, and sufficient experiments should be conducted if conditions permit to observe the consumption rate of fillers, the rate of pH rise, and the compaction situation. Due to the continuous consumption of iron carbon microelectrolysis fillers, regular replenishment of fillers is required during operation. According to the size of the water volume, the micro electrolysis reactor can be made of steel or constructed in civil form. If iron carbon microelectrolysis is combined with Fenton, the effluent from iron carbon microelectrolysis needs to be further adjusted to pH 2-4 before entering the Fenton oxidation tower, where hydrogen peroxide and ferrous sulfate are added The usual dosage of hydrogen peroxide can be calculated based on the molar ratio of hydrogen peroxide to COD (1:4-1). The amount of ferrous ions added is calculated based on the molar ratio of hydrogen peroxide to ferrous ions (3-5): 1. Note that the effluent from iron carbon microelectrolysis will supplement some ferrous ions. The Fenton reaction time is usually 2-4 hours. The pH of the effluent from the Fenton reaction tower is adjusted to neutral and enters the degassing tank. A small amount of bubbles in the water can be removed by blowing and stirring.
