Generally, high-concentration refractory organic wastewater can be summarized into several main aspects: First, COD substances that can dissolve oxygen are highly present in wastewater. If the water contains high-concentration organic wastewater, it can lead to a severe lack of oxygen content. Second, refractory organic wastewater is defined as having a COD and BOD content of less than 0.3, resulting in low biodegradability. Third, organisms, microorganisms, and toxic substances such as aromatic amines and phenolic compounds may be present in the body, and the human body may ingest toxic substance residues through food consumption.

The continuous advancement of industrialization has led to increasingly complex organic pollutants in industrial wastewater. Currently, experts and scholars in the environmental protection industry are constantly breaking new ground in their thinking, hoping to better treat industrial wastewater and achieve the concept of green development for environmental protection.

医药废水的处理大多医药废水COD较高、可生化性差，单纯靠物理化学方法处理成本高不经济，普通的生化处理又根本行不通，所以可以先用臭氧预处理，主要是为了提高废水的可生化性，为后续生物处理降低难度，同时降低COD。

The development of modern industry has led to a sharp increase in both the quantity and types of organic matter entering water bodies, resulting in severe water pollution. Wastewater rich in organic matter may contain a large amount of toxic, harmful, and refractory pollutants, which are causing increasingly serious environmental problems and greatly restricting the development of the chemical industry and related industries. Traditional separation and transformation technologies are inefficient in treating refractory and toxic organic pollutants. Therefore, seeking more effective new technologies is particularly important for sustainable development.

The iron-carbon microelectrolysis treatment method primarily utilizes the principle of metal corrosion to form a galvanic cell. A reaction tank is established to treat organic matter within it. During the reaction process, iron elements change from zero valence to ferrous ions through electrolysis conditions. At this point, the iron ions exhibit strong adsorption properties, which can attract charged particles present in organic matter, gradually forming iron sludge. This method has a significant removal effect on large-particle organic matter present in chemical wastewater.

The reaction mechanism of iron-carbon microelectrolysis involves placing iron chips (mainly composed of iron and carbon) in acidic wastewater. Due to the potential difference of 1.2V between Fe and C, a large number of microbattery systems are formed in the wastewater. The reaction products of the microbattery have adsorption and filtration effects, thereby reducing the pollutants in the wastewater. During the microelectrolysis process, the anode is oxidized to produce Fe and Fe3+, which undergoes hydrolytic precipitation to form flocculants with adsorption properties. Meanwhile, the [H] and [O] generated at the cathode continue to undergo oxidation reactions, degrading macromolecular organic compounds in the wastewater and improving its biodegradability. During the reaction process, OH is generated at the cathode, increasing the pH value of the treated wastewater.

The greatest joy one can experience is when, after some effort, everything gradually transforms into what you desire. Iron-carbon microelectrolysis is a wastewater treatment process in which iron and carbon spontaneously generate a weak electric current in an electrolyte solution to decompose pollutants in wastewater. The large amount of nascent Fe2+ and nascent [?H] produced by this process exhibit extremely high chemical activity, capable of altering the structure and characteristics of many organic compounds in wastewater, leading to chain scission, ring opening, and other reactions. The iron-carbon microelectrolysis process integrates multiple functions such as oxidation, reduction, electrodeposition, flocculation, adsorption, bridging, sweeping, and co-precipitation.

Microelectrolysis technology, also known as internal electrolysis, is an ideal process for treating high-concentration, high-colority, high-salinity, and refractory biodegradable organic wastewater. When iron-carbon microelectrolysis packing is immersed in wastewater, due to the potential difference between iron and carbon, countless micro-primary batteries are formed in the wastewater. These tiny batteries consist of iron with a lower potential acting as the cathode and carbon with a higher potential acting as the anode, undergoing electrochemical reactions in an aqueous solution containing acidic electrolytes. The result of the reaction is that iron is corroded and turns into divalent iron ions, which enter the solution. Due to the coagulation effect of iron ions, they attract particles with a slightly negative charge in the pollutants, forming relatively stable flocculants that are removed. To increase the potential difference and promote the release of iron ions, a certain proportion of catalyst is added to the iron-carbon microelectrolysis packing.

The biochemical cultivation process of wastewater is an intricate task, with its theoretical foundation spanning multiple disciplines such as physics, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, microbiology, and fluid mechanics. Despite the nearly century-old history of the earliest activated sludge process, many theories remain unresolved in the academic community. Therefore, in the biochemical treatment process of wastewater in this project, operators and managers are required to continuously explore and practice during the biochemical cultivation process based on in-depth theoretical research and in conjunction with the specific conditions of the company's wastewater. Under the premise of ensuring the system operates normally and the wastewater meets emission standards, they are expected to enhance their theoretical depth, enrich their practical experience, and build up their technical reserves.
